November opens the season when the veil between worlds thins and the voices of the Dead draw close. Across cultures, this month has always been a time of remembrance—of All Saints and All Souls, of Día de los Muertos, and of ancestral veneration in the African and Indigenous traditions that gave rise to Hoodoo and New Orleans Voudou.
At Creole Moon, we mark this sacred time with our November Community Ritual: Call to the Collective Ancestors—a month-long ritual of healing, guidance, and protection offered to our ancestors of blood, spirit, and lineage.
Your personal petition will be placed upon the ancestral altar at Creole Moon and joined by offerings of light, water, and prayer. Each submission becomes part of a living chorus calling upon the wisdom and compassion of the Dead to aid the living. Together, we invoke the benevolent ancestors—those who walked before us, who built the roads we now
travel—to guide our hands and steady our hearts.
Why We Honor the Ancestors
In African and Creole worldviews, the individual is never alone. Each of us stands in a great continuum, linked to generations before and after. To honor the ancestors is to restore harmony between worlds and to remember that our lives are their legacy. Through them,
blessings flow—guidance, protection, emotional healing, and the empowerment to act with confidence and clarity.
Ancestral reverence is not worship; it is relationship. The ancestors are not gods but kin—our teachers, our witnesses, our unseen allies. When we speak their names, we remember who we
are.
How to Participate
Read this message carefully.
Understanding the ritual’s purpose aligns your intention with the collective work at Creole Moon.
Prepare your petition.
Write sincerely and clearly, addressing your ancestors by name or collectively. Speak from the heart—asking for guidance, healing, justice, peace, prosperity, or empowerment. Sign your full name and birth date, fold the paper toward you, and hold it for a moment in quiet reverence.
Submit your petition.
Email your petition to creolemoonpublications@gmail.com with the subject line “Ancestors Community Ritual Petition.” It will be
printed and placed upon the communal altar, tended throughout the month with offerings, candles, and prayer.
Participate at home (optional).
Create a small ancestor space with a glass of water and a white candle. Read your petition aloud so your ancestors
may hear you. This joins your energy with the communal current and strengthens the bond between the living and the Dead.
Trust the process.
Once your petition has been sent, release it with faith. Your ancestors have already heard you. Guidance may come
in dreams, synchronicities, or moments of quiet knowing. Every act of remembrance keeps the sacred circle unbroken.
Deepen Your Practice
You may wish to maintain a simple ancestor shrine throughout November: a clean cloth, a glass of cool water, a white candle, and words of gratitude. Refresh the water, light candles, and speak their names
aloud. Each act nourishes the connection and calls their presence near.
When your petition’s blessing manifests—or when peace returns where there was unrest—thank them. Gratitude keeps the current flowing.
Together we carry the flame forward.
By joining the Call to the Collective Ancestors, you affirm your place in a living lineage that transcends death. Your prayer becomes part of a greater work of remembrance, healing, and renewal that links all of us—seen and unseen—in one sacred circle.
